Saturday 24th August – 14.00: Slieve Carran Nature Reserve

Step into the past and take a wander through time at Slieve Carran Nature Reserve this Heritage Week, and experience the Burren through the eyes of those who came before us. Mysterious hunter-gatherers, prosperous Bronze Age farmers and reclusive medieval hermits all made their mark on and gained inspiration from this uniquely dynamic landscape. Discover these stories in stone, in the earth and of course in the ever-present and precious Burren flora and fauna, woven through our human experience right up to the present day.

The terrain is wild and rough in places, so strong footwear and all-weather gear are essential at this somewhat rainy summer’s end! Booking required – Contact burrennationalpark@chg.gov.ie or 065 6827693 for details.
